Serious distributors for serious timing.

Chevrolet: 262-454, Pro-Billet distributor

MSD's most popular performance distributor. Features include a 1/2 in. steel shaft supported by a sealed ball bearing and a long sintered bushing for high speed stability. A precision machined reluctor is attached to the shaft which triggers a high output magnetic pickup mounted in the housing. With no moving parts to adjust or wear, the pickup is maintenance free. Different springs and stop bushings are supplied so you can create an advance curve to match your application.

MSD Pro-Billet distributors are the finest performance and racing distributors available. The distributor housing is CNC machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum to within +/- 1/1000 in., producing a housing that's stable, lightweight, and less prone to flex. MSD also uses an upper-sealed ball bearing to guide the distributor shaft, preventing shaft wobble at high rpms. The shaft is polished and QPQ coated to minimize friction and allow the distributors to operate through 10,000 rpm.

This Pro-Billet distributor comes with a race rotor, alkyd cap, and has a CNC-machined billet aluminum base. This distributor also features two O-rings at the bottom of the housing for improved oil control, and a small oiling hole at the distributor base for better distributor and cam gear oiling.

One of the most important features of this distributor is the adjustable mechanical advance assembly. This assembly, sometimes referred to as a centrifuge, allows you to accurately and easily modify the advance curve to match your specific application. A variety of timing curves can be achieved simply by changing the advance springs or stop bushings. The stop bushing determines the amount of mechanical advance that can be achieved.
